Self Archiving and Personal Use Policy

This policy applies to scholarly research monographs and research handbooks published under our standard terms.  Therefore any reuse under this policy is governed by the usual copyright restrictions.

The policy does not apply to textbooks, books published primarily for teaching use, titles published for a commercial legal market or to reference works such as encyclopaedia, dictionaries or commentaries.

Please contact your commissioning editor if you have a query about this policy or you would like to use your contribution in a way that is not covered by this policy.

 

Prior to publication

Once it has been accepted for publication you may post one chapter/ article of your original submitted version (i.e. before any editing by Edward Elgar Publishing) on your personal webpage, in an institutional repository or in a not-for-profit subject repository.

 

Conditions:

1) Please include the words: 

This is a draft chapter/article that has been accepted for publication by Edward Elgar Publishing in the forthcoming book [title] edited by/ by (editor/author) due to be published in 20xx

2) The chapter/ article must be taken down once the book is published.

 

After publication

Six months after the first publication date you may post one chapter (or article) of the original submitted pre-edited version on your personal website, in an institutional repository or in a not-for-profit subject repository.

You may also reuse a chapter or article that you have contributed without seeking permission for the following purposes:

  • Reuse in an edited book that you are also editing

  • Reuse in an edited collection of your own work

  • Reuse in your personal teaching, including in course packs

 

Conditions:

1) Please include the words: 

This draft chapter/article that has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing in [title] by/ edited by (author/editor) published in 20xx’.   [link to Elgaronline]

2) For reuse online on your webpage or a repository please also provide a link to the official online version of the final chapter/article/book on Elgaronline.   In the case of SSRN this should be embedded into the first page of the document itself.

3) In the case of jointly authored works please ensure the co-authors are happy for the work to be posted
